This chronic micromanipulator is used for middle sized animals, mainly monkeys. Electrodes can be inserted, without vibration, into deep areas by remote-controlled oil hydraulic drive. Attachment to the head is by the chamber method, so there is no concern that some slight movement will detach the electrode involuntarily. The MO-96 has an XY stage made of acrylic, which allows accurate positioning and observation inside animal subjects. The MO-96A is equipped with an open type chamber, which allows multiple measurements and the use of a grid.
